Work on this platform began with the design of our frame, the backbone on which the this modular vehicle will be built. We have used a variation of the featherbed frame, built around the design of our custom battery pack.
To keep the wheelbase short and to keep the option of adding an overdrive, we have designed a two stage chain drive. This has the additional benefit of a high in the frame mount for the motor, which keeps it out of harms way.
This is our second prototype, the mechanical gremlins we have encountered in this has been the learning that we are taking to our next. Hopefully we will be able to eke out better performance in our next!
